About Science Fiction MoviesScience fiction movies have been a film genre since the earliest days of cinema. Movies of this genre have explored a great range of subjects and themes, including many that can not be readily covered by using other genres. Science fiction films have been used to explore sensitive social and political issues, while often providing an entertaining story for a more casual audience. Today, science fiction movies are in the cutting edge of new special effects technology, and the viewers have become accustomed to displays of realistic alien life forms, spectacular space battles, advanced weapons, faster than light travel to distant worlds and solar systems. There are many excellent science fiction movies, but there are also perhaps a greater number that are poor and may even be among the worst examples of movie production. It took many decades, and the efforts of talented teams of film producers, for science fiction movies to be considered a serious art form. Many horror movies also fall into the science fiction genre. - The preceding paragraph was derived from a full article available from Wikipedia and its use is governed by the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2. |
